Ian Scott, BA(Hons), MBA Director Ian Scott is a founding Director of ACE. Ian principally brings functional expertise and experience in the areas of strategy, operations and organization. Prior to forming ACE Ian was Vice President and Director with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the global strategy consulting firm. During his fifteen years with BCG Ian led major client relationships across the Asia Pacific region and led engagements in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, The Philippines and Singapore. Ian’s client relationships were with both local and multinational companies as well as government institutions. Ian brings to ACE a unique set of expertise and experience relevant to the issues faced in the aviation sector. The sound strategy is necessary for any company’s success. A sound understanding of the evolution of the industry and the changing bases of competitive advantage is a critical foundation. There must be ongoing alignment between this strategy, the company’s operations and organization. Operations and organization determine how effectively and efficiently the strategy is executed and how flexible the company is in adapting to change circumstances. It is in working through these challenges at all levels of management that Ian and ACE can play a key role in providing insight, structure and facilitation. Beyond his general management consulting expertise, Ian has prior experience working with both airlines and airports. This includes core’ strategy’ development, value management, route planning and yield management, low cost carrier (LCC) development and launch, as well as catering and other aspects of logistics and outsourcing. Ian’s areas of expertise relate mainly to the economic and management aspects of the businesses themselves and the changing evolution of revenue flows, cost structures and overall business models. Ian holds an MBA (with Distinction) from the University of New South Wales, completed the International Management Program, New York University and holds a BA (with Honors) in Economics from the University of West England. From 1979-1989 he worked with Marks and Spencer in the United Kingdom in new product development, production and distribution planning and retail management. In 1990 Ian joined The Boston Consulting Group and was Vice President and Director from 1998 to 2005. In addition he was Managing Director of BCG Singapore and Head of BCG’s Energy Practice across Asia Pacific. Ian is a British, Australian and Permanent Resident of Singapore. Aged 43, he is an avid snow skier, photographer, has traveled extensively from Ethiopia to Uzbekistan and has an ongoing interest in wine.
